A report by Sunnewsonline today states that former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has accused the Bola Tinubu administration of planning a propaganda campaign in the country. Atiku believes that the recent spread of “fake news” regarding the lifting of the UAE visa ban is just the beginning of a broader propaganda strategy.

As the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku claims that President Tinubu has already appointed more than 15 media aides to engage in state-sponsored propaganda aimed at diverting Nigerians’ attention from the economic challenges caused by his administration.

Furthermore, Atiku has criticized the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s (NNPC) recent announcement of obtaining a $3 billion loan to stabilize the naira as a deceptive tactic.

He argues that the claim was meant to mislead Nigerians and that their suspicions have been justified as the naira’s value on the black market continues to decline. Atiku stated, “Last month, the NNPC claimed to have obtained a loan of $3bn with which it would help stabilize the naira. We raised the alarm that it was all a ruse to deceive Nigerians. Now, we have been justified as the naira is now approaching $1/N,000 on the black market.”
