Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello says he will move to Kano for two weeks if needed to help President Bola Tinubu and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf win in 2027.

He made the promise at a Yoruba political mobilisation and empowerment programme organised by the Leke Abejide Foundation in Kano.

He urged Yoruba and other non-indigenous communities to back the APC.

Bello said the communities’ support for Tinubu in 2023, about 500,000 votes, was not enough.

He said the 2027 figure should be much higher.

He added that Abejide’s network could deliver at least two million votes for Tinubu.

He also asked supporters to back all APC candidates, from governor to state assembly.

He appealed to Northerners to back Tinubu for a second term.

He argued that Tinubu should be allowed to finish his two constitutionally allowed terms before power returns to the North.

He also pointed to progress on the Kano-Abuja road as proof of the president’s commitment to the region.

Abejide, who represents Yagba in Kogi State, said Kano has been his home for about 34 years.

He announced N500 million in interest-free loans for women’s cooperatives, with beneficiaries from eight states and from Igala and Ebira communities.

Widows will get food, clothing and cash, and a plan for young people and men is being prepared.

Governor Yusuf said his government has appointed special advisers from Yoruba, Igbo and northern minority communities.

He said Igala groups may get similar representation.

He also urged these communities to support Tinubu and the APC, and promised their security and participation in the state would be protected.
