Abdulaziz Yari, Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, has defended the recent rise in fuel prices.

He spoke at the APC presidential rally in Calabar on Monday.

He said Nigeria cannot be the exception.

He pointed out that Saudi Arabia, one of the world’s biggest oil producers, has also raised its fuel prices.

In his view, the rise is happening around the world because crude oil prices have gone up on the international market.

Yari said Nigerians should understand that fuel prices are set by the global market, not by the government alone.

He asked people to be patient and support the government, arguing that the removal of the fuel subsidy will bring long term benefits.
