Armed men kidnapped six mourners on Friday, October 30, along Adoka Road in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The group, which included the husband of a woman who died in Kano, was taking her body to Okpoga in Okpokwu LGA for burial.
The attack happened at about 8pm.
The gunmen took the six people into the bush and left the woman’s body on the highway.
Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps found it on Saturday and took it to the police station in Adoka.
It was later moved to a morgue.
Otukpo LGA Chairman Maxwell Ogiri said the kidnappers are demanding 15 million naira for the victims’ release.
