Police men in Imo State have arrested Ifeanyi Chukwu Joseph, 26, over the fall of a 17 year old girl, Chiamaka Chukwuokore, from a two storey building in Owerri on Sunday.
The girl is the younger sister of Joseph’s girlfriend.
Police say the two argued on Mbonu Ejike Street in Ikeneagbu, and Joseph pushed her.
She fell and was badly hurt.
She was taken to hospital, where she is in critical condition.
Angry neighbours tried to lynch Joseph, but police stepped in and took him into custody.
He is being questioned.
Police have asked the public not to share unverified information and to let the police handle the case.
Imo State Police Commissioner Audu Bosso says the matter is being fully investigated and that justice will be done.
