The UK Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership has criticized a group’s plan to stage a protest against Bola Tinubu in the UK. In a statement released on Friday, Nov. 3, in Lagos, the Chairman of the chapter and the APC Committee of Diaspora Chairmen, Mr Tunde Doherty, addressed the planned protest. Doherty stated that the group is organizing a protest in London to propagate unfounded claims about the educational qualifications of President Bola Tinubu.
He emphasized on the importance of relying on substantiated facts over premature and unsubstantiated allegations, calling on those planning to participate in the protest to consider the potential consequences of spreading unfounded allegations and misinformation.
The chairman added that the APC diaspora leaders were standing solidly behind Tinubu. Doherty encouraged a more constructive approach to addressing concerns or grievances related to the nation’s leadership, stating that the spirit of constructive dialogue and unity should be upheld. He said that anyone with genuine concerns should engage in a meaningful and informed dialogue with them as they firmly believe in the power of informed, collaborative, and fact-based solutions to move the nation forward.
The chairman concluded by stating that the allegations of forged certificates lacked concrete evidence and undermined the spirit of democracy and fair political discourse that they hold dear. He described President Bola Tinubu, a seasoned and distinguished statesman, as having a long and illustrious track record of serving the great nation of Nigeria with an unwavering commitment to the betterment of Nigeria and its people.
