The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast warning indicating several counties that will receive heavy rainfall and storms from today, October 31 to November 6.
According to MET statement, these areas, include the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the southeastern lowlands, the coast, and the northwestern and northeastern parts of Kenya. These areas are expected to receive up to 120mm of rainfall over the next week indicating extreme heavy rainfall.
Other counties on the list set to receive similar rainfalls are Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Kiambu, Embu, Makueni, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Kitui, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Samburu, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Kericho, Bungoma, Kakamega, Vihiga, Homa Bay, Kisii, and Migori.
Nairobi county is expected to receive an average of 20-50mm of rainfall, while Turkana, Narok, Nakuru, and Kajiado counties will see between 10-20mm.
Throughout the month of October, the country has been facing heavy rainfall, with certain areas experiencing even more intense precipitation.
An official statement from the department highlighted persistent rainfall and isolated storms in counties such as Kitui, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Isiolo, Meru, and Marsabit.
