A female Israeli soldier who was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 has been successfully released during ground operations in Gaza, as announced by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Monday, according to CNN.
The IDF released a statement confirming the soldier’s release, identifying her as PVT Ori Megidish.
The statement also indicated that the soldier had undergone a medical checkup and was in good health. Furthermore, she has been reunited with her family, bringing relief to her loved ones.
Hamas, the Palestinian militant group responsible for her captivity, also made a significant move on Monday by releasing a short video that features three women believed to have been held as captives since the group’s terror attack on Israel on October 7.
This video marks only the second communication from Hamas since more than 200 people were taken into Gaza as hostages.
Hamas intended to use this video to undermine the leadership of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as it includes pointed criticism directed at him by the detained women.
The video showcases the three captives sitting in plastic chairs, facing the camera.
The woman in the middle of the frame addresses Netanyahu directly, expressing her frustration and anger, which reflects the intense emotions surrounding this incident.
