Professor Dayo Faduyile, a former President of the Nigerian Medical Association and a gubernatorial aspirant in Ondo State, has reacted to the statement made by Wale Akinterinwa, the former Commissioner for Finance in Ondo. Akinterinwa claimed that the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu had endorsed him as the next governor before his demise.
During an interview with TVC, Faduyile expressed skepticism regarding Akinterinwa’s claims, highlighting the absence of concrete evidence to substantiate the endorsement.
He emphasized the lack of Akeredolu’s presence or a witness to corroborate the endorsement, suggesting that anyone could make such assertions without verification. Faduyile even humorously remarked that he could claim Akeredolu endorsed and prayed for him in the privacy of his bedroom, underscoring the difficulty in disputing such claims without tangible evidence.
Faduyile conveyed his doubt, stating that in such matters, it takes two parties to confirm an endorsement, and with Akeredolu no longer alive, there is no way to verify the claim. He pointed out the absence of witnesses to the alleged endorsement, casting doubt on its authenticity.
The former Nigerian Medical Association president acknowledged the potential for individuals to make unfounded claims for personal gain or political advantage. He emphasized the importance of relying on verifiable facts rather than hearsay or unverified claims in shaping public opinion and decision-making processes.
