The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Malagi, has denied allegations that the Federal Government is responsible for the political unrest in Rivers State. Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program, Malagi clarified that just because the crisis is happening in Rivers State, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the Federal Government is involved. Despite some individuals associated with President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet being present in the state’s political scene, there is still no conclusive evidence pointing to the Federal Government’s orchestration of the crisis.
Malagi pointed out that President Buhari has intervened in similar political disputes within the same party in other states, like Ondo, showing the government’s commitment to resolving internal party conflicts. Malagi emphasized, “I’ve not found evidence to say that it is the Federal Government that is engineering the crisis in Rivers State. It is easy to speculate because some of the actors are people who associate with the government at the center.”
