On Thursday morning, Nigerians were plunged into darkness after the collapse of the national grid system.
The system is operated by the Nigerian Transmission Company (TCN) Osogbo, Osun State.
Some Distribution Companies in the country confirmed that the network collapsed in the early hours of Thursday, when most of their feeders were cut off.
The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) said in a statement that “a complete system collapse” occurred at 12:40 am on Thursday.
“This has led to the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network,” the company said in a statement signed by Emeka Ezeh, director of corporate communications.
Due to this development, the distribution company said all its TCN interface stations are out of stock and will not be able to serve customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states.
“We are awaiting detailed information on the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Center (NCC), Osogbo,” he said.
TCN Director General of Public Affairs Ndidi Mbah told Newslodge on Thursday morning that the public would soon be informed of the development.
