Dandruff is one of the most common hair care problems that the majority of us experience. Dandruff can be quite irritating and make hair care conditions worse. But do you know that dandruff is not just limited to the scalp as it also affects our face? The effects of dandruff can depend on your skin type, whether you have oily or dry skin. Dandruff can cause acne and pimples and worsen other skin care problems. Here are some ways in which dandruff affects your face;

Pigmentation

Skin pigmentation, which refers to how much melanin the body generates, determines the colour of the skin, as per NIH. The pimples which occur due to dandruff can further lead to pigmentation on your face. This may also cause unwanted black spots on your face.

 

Irritation

Excessive dandruff on the skin can cause inflammation and irritation. It can be very itchy and can affect other parts of the body, including the face, eyebrows, beard and central chest area.

 

Trigger Eczema

According to the Cleveland Clinic, eczema is a skin condition that causes dry and itchy patches of skin. It’s a common condition that isn’t contagious. Dandruff on your face can cause itching and inflammation on your skin, which can further trigger eczema.

 

Pimples

The most common after-effect of excessive dandruff is pimples on the face. If dandruff falls on your T-zone which is the forehead and area near your nose, then it may lead to a breakout of pimples on your skin.
