On Saturday, the Secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Government, Enobong Uwah, announced that Governor Umo Eno has appointed 368 personal assistants.
This marks the first time in the state’s history that such a large number of aides have been appointed at once. The candidates were selected from 368 political districts in the state and were nominated by political leaders. They were requested to start their duties on Sunday, October 1, with their inauguration taking place the following day.
The purpose of these aides is to support Governor Eno in gaining political influence across the state. Governor Eno is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PPD) and the fifth elected governor of Akwa Ibom. Other Nigerian governors, such as Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, have also recently appointed a significant number of personal assistants and media aides.
