A governorship aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Anselm Ojezua, has insisted that there was no ward congress in Edo; as he maintained that what was conducted was Godwin Obaseki’s congress.
He noted that he has written to the acting National Chairman of the main opposition party to seek redress; and maintained that the party might not have a candidate for the coming election if nothing is done about it.
Mr. Ojezua had said,
“You see, I told you we were completely excluded and that is a ground for objection. It is not possible that you will conduct an exercise for a group of people, and the people are not part of that process, then that exercise was not for them. What they conducted yesterday was Obaseki’s congress not the PDP congress,
that process either was sold to him by people in the National Working Committee — in fact, I am aware that there are a lot of members of the National Working Committee who were actually shocked with what has happened in Edo, and we are going to take it up. The sad part of it is that the illegality, their desperation —
the illegality that they have shrouded the process with, PDP if care is not taken may not even have a candidate in this election.”
