Prince Kenedy Ahanotu, the National Youth Leader of the Labour Party, has raised concerns about the extensive foreign travels of the president during his tenure.
According to Ahanotu, since assuming office, the president has spent approximately 65% of his time outside Nigeria and only 35% within the country.
Speaking in a recent interview on Channels Television, Prince Ahanotu emphasized that effective governance goes beyond frequent international travels.
In his assessment, Ahanotu also highlighted the apparent correlation between the president’s absence and the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria, especially in the absence of President Tinubu.

“He’s the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but it’s shocking to understand that he’s spent only about 65% of his time since he took office in Nigeria and 35% has been spent overseas.
And governance is not about travelling from one place to the other, there are many presidents that rarely travel to other countries, they sit with their citizens, suffer with their citizens, mourn with their citizens and celebrate with their citizens.
For instance, the president is not around and look at what is happening in the security sector of the country and it’s now the national assembly that is inviting the security chiefs.
The national assembly doesn’t have the executive power to change the security architecture, so for me Nigerians have not enjoyed the benefits of their votes that they cast in the past presidential election.
