Chronic fatigue can have a debilitating effect on a person’s life. Fortunately, recent research by an Italian team from the University of Naples Federico II has shown that pomegranate combined with vitamins C and B can help combat this condition. Chronic fatigue is characterized by symptoms such as tiredness, mood swings, lack of motivation, low vitality, and the need to rest. These symptoms can last for months, and they can affect more than 20% of the working population. Unfortunately, there is no single treatment for chronic fatigue, and it can be hard to identify the underlying cause. This is why scientists are looking for natural remedies to help people feel better and increase their energy levels.
The research involved 58 healthy adults between the ages of 18 and 75 who suffered from chronic fatigue. The participants were divided into two groups. One group was given a supplement containing pomegranate extract, vitamins C and B, and other nutrients, while the other group was given a placebo. After two months, the group that received the supplement reported a significant reduction in fatigue and improved quality of life compared to the placebo group. These results were still evident even one month after stopping the supplement.
According to the researchers, pomegranate’s antioxidants support the intestinal microbiota, which helps improve energy levels in the body. The combination of pomegranate, and vitamins C and B work together to counteract fatigue. These nutrients can be obtained through a supplement or through our diet. Pomegranate can be consumed by removing the seeds and adding them to yogurt, fruit salads, and salads. Pomegranate juice, without added sugar, is also an option. Vitamin C can be found in citrus fruits, kiwis, spinach, broccoli, and tomatoes, while group B vitamins are found in eggs, legumes, brewer’s yeast, green leafy vegetables, whole grains, milk, and dairy products. It is always best to consult with a doctor before taking any supplements.
