the police in delta state have recovered a variety of weapons from suspected criminals who were terrorizing Warri and the surrounding area.
Bright Edafe, a spokesman for the state police, revealed this on Monday in Warri.
Edafe, deputy superintendent of police, said police have launched a search for the fleeing suspects.
He said the weapons were recovered on Wednesday by the surveillance team of the Ekpan police division following “credible intelligence”.
Edafe added that the division’s police officer, CSP Aliyu Shaba, led the surveillance team in the operation to the hideout of the goons at Aladja High School in the Udu local government area of the state.
“Based on credible intelligence information collected about the activities of some criminals operating in and around Warri, Udu, Koko, CSP Shaba led the surveillance team and followed the goons to their hideout located at Aladja High School in the govt. Udu’s location
“However, seeing the police, the thugs fled. A search was immediately carried out around the unfinished building and a bag was found,” he said.
Edafe said items recovered from the bag included an AK-47 rifle and magazine loaded with seven rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, an English pump-action pistol with three live cartridges, and two cut-to-length double-barrel pistols. .
