Foreign embassies in the nation’s capital owe a total of $5.36 million in ground rent. The list includes 43 embassies and high commissions in its “phase I – IV,” with Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Korea, Russia, France, Iraq, Italy, and Spain being the foreign countries with outstanding ground rent.
FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has published the names of these foreign embassies owing ground rent in the capital. He issued a memo titled “Final Notice on Payment of Outstanding Ground Rent in the FCT” and gave the affected organizations just two weeks to pay up.
The list also includes some African countries, such as Senegal, Cote D’Ivoire, Algeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Zambia, and South Africa, with outstanding ground rent.
The memo advised all allottees, property owners, and beneficiaries of the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT who could not pay or settle their outstanding ground rents for the year 2023 to ensure payment within two weeks from the date of publication. Failure to do so may result in the revocation of their titles.
The names of allottees and corresponding outstanding ground rents are listed below for ease of reference. The list was published across national dailies on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
