Tremella mushroom combats dark spots, skin dehydration and photoaging, is anti-aging and healing
Science is continuously searching for innovative, possibly natural, ingredients to enrich the offer in the cosmetic field. Today we are talking about a new trend that is capturing the attention of experts, we are talking about a mushroom, the Tremella fuciformis mushroom.
Tremella mushroom in cosmetics, what science says
The Tremella fuciformis mushroom, also known as white mushroom or snow mushroom, based on very recent scientific research has a lightening action, since it acts by reducing the production of melanin. Not only that, this mushroom is also healing, antioxidant, anti-aging, hydrating, as it avoids the loss of water from the tissues, and capable of counteracting photoaging (Chiang et al, In Vivo, 2022 – Xie et al, Front Pharmacol, 2022). Oral intake of the mushroom has been shown to attenuate atopic dermatitis more effectively than its external application (Xie et al, Front Pharmacol, 2022). Not only that, the Tremella mushroom is also being used in the formulation of some disinfectant hand gels, to maintain skin hydration (Lourith et al, J Cosmet Dermatol, 2021).
Tremella mushroom, where it is found
The studies cited are very recent and limited, for the moment, to animals or in vitro in the laboratory. Other work will follow to understand in depth the benefits of the mushroom on humans, but the results seen so far give rise to hope. So much so that it is already possible to find products such as serums or masks on the market in which the tremella mushroom appears among the ingredients. However, always make sure that the product is of quality and buy it in trusted stores. It should be underlined that it was not possible to find studies in the literature on possible side effects of the tremella mushroom, even if it is generally considered a safe ingredient also with regard to oral intake.
