Former presidential candidate and National Chairman of the Alliance National Party, Alhaji Mashood Shittu, in a news published by Punch Newspaper, has highlighted the necessity of unity for Nigeria’s advancement during a speech in Umuahia.
Shittu, representing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State at the 66th birthday celebration of Umuahia-based entrepreneur High Chief Uche James Akwukwaegbu, emphasized the challenges faced in contemporary Nigeria due to hardships.
Shittu praised Akwukwaegbu’s accomplishment in reaching the age of 66, attributing his longevity to a life of achievement and peace. He underscored the importance of building bridges across Nigeria’s diverse regions to foster unity and national development.
Expressing his impressions of Abia State during his inaugural visit, Shittu remarked on the warmth and friendliness of the people. He reflected on the need for mutual visits among Nigerians to strengthen national cohesion.
Addressing the NNPP court case, Shittu noted the national significance attached to local issues, emphasizing the need for a broader perspective on Nigeria’s challenges. He commended Chief Akwukwaegbu, acknowledging their cordial relationship and his contributions to the Kwankwasiyya movement.
In representing the Kwankwasiya family, Shittu extended congratulations to the celebrant, emphasizing the significance of their enduring friendship.
He said: “We have been sharing words about Nigeria, especially about the court case of NNPP, and all that I heard from the people here in Abia State was that NNPP is Kano, but they made it to be a national issue. The people of Umuahia are friendly.”
Speaking on the celebrant, Chief Akwukwaegbu, Shittu said, “He is worth the congratulatory message we are passing across to him. We have been friendly and enjoy good relationship with each other. We also remembered his relationship with Kwankwasiyya. I have come to represent the Kwankwasiya family here in Umuahia and to celebrate with him.
