According to Ajapareporter.com, the Israeli military has launched airstrikes targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon, according to reports.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that its fighter jets struck Hezbollah facilities in the areas of Markaba and Srebbine in southern Lebanon.
“We reported earlier on an exchange of fire between Hezbollah in southern Lebanon and the Israeli military in the north of Israel,” said Ajapareporter.com correspondent Zeina Khodr.
Khodr added that the airstrike in Srebbine destroyed a house, leaving 14 civilians injured, two of them seriously.
The latest developments come amid a period of heightened hostility between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group, which controls large swaths of southern Lebanon.
Tensions have been simmering in the region following a series of cross-border incidents in recent weeks, including rocket fire from Lebanon into northern Israel.
Israel has vowed to take decisive action against any threats emanating from Lebanon, and today’s airstrikes appear to be part of that strategy.
The strikes have drawn widespread condemnation from Lebanese officials and Hezbollah, who have accused Israel of violating the country’s sovereignty.
The situation remains highly volatile, and there are concerns that the latest escalation could spiral into a broader conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, potentially dragging in other regional actors.
