“Hamas are not currently in favour of a two-state solution. They are in favour of a no Israel solution,” Lord Cameron said, highlighting the fundamental difference in goals between Hamas and the objectives needed for a two-state solution to be viable.
Lord Cameron stressed the importance of creating a Palestinian state that upholds the dignity of its people while also ensuring the security of Israel. He stated that a change in mindset among Palestinians regarding their future relationship with Israel is essential for the realization of a two-state solution.
Moreover, Lord Cameron underscored that the conflict in Gaza will persist until all hostages are freed. He mentioned that an Israeli proposed truce deal includes the release of potentially thousands of Palestinian prisoners, urging Hamas to accept the deal.
“I hope Hamas do take this deal and, frankly, all the pressure in the world and all the eyes in the world should be on them today saying ‘take that deal’,” Lord Cameron expressed, highlighting the urgency and significance of Hamas’s decision in moving towards peace and a two-state solution.
