The former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been summoned by a court in London to answer charges related to bribery. On August 22, the UK government pressed charges against her for allegedly accepting a bribe of £100,000. The National Crime Agency (NCA) of the UK has reason to believe that Diezani accepted bribes in exchange for granting lucrative oil and gas contracts worth millions of pounds.
“We suspect Diezani Alison-Madueke abused her power in Nigeria and accepted financial rewards for awarding multi-million-pound contracts,” the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) said.
