In a series of tweets, Bashir Ahmad, an aide to the former President, Muhammad Buhari expressed concern over the ongoing hardships faced by its residents. Ahmad emphasized the urgent need for government intervention to alleviate the crisis and called upon authorities to swiftly address the situation.
Bringing out Kano’s vast potential, Ahmad urged the state government to proactively seek assistance from the federal government in Abuja. He underscored the importance of advocating for lower commodity prices, especially for goods minimally affected by fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate, during interactions with the business community.
In his words, he said; “Firstly, I must not overlook the hardships the people are experiencing, and we hope that the government will swiftly find a way out immediately. As I mentioned in my previous tweet, Kano, with its vast potential, should be the first state to run to Abuja to look for an intervention.
The Governor has a prime opportunity while interacting with the business community to advocate for lower commodity prices, especially for goods minimally affected by the dollar exchange rate; I was not sure if he had done so.
Moreover, it’s a harsh reality that you and I are both aware of – Gov. Abba’s ill-advised policies, particularly those leading to the demolition of hundreds of properties in Kano, have significantly contributed to the current crisis in our state.
If you get a chance to relate this call to the Governor as one of his assistants, please help us to do so. Regardless of our political affiliations, we are passionate about Kano’s success, growth, and development, and we are eager to contribute in any way we can”.
However, Ahmad did not shy away from criticizing certain policies implemented by Governor Abba that he believes have exacerbated the situation. Specifically, he pointed to the demolition of hundreds of properties in Kano as a contributing factor to the current crisis. Ahmad urged officials, regardless of political affiliations, to prioritize the well-being and development of Kano.
Addressing Governor Abba directly, Ahmad called on government assistants to relay the concerns and suggestions to the state leadership. He emphasized the collective desire of Kano’s residents for the state’s success and development, expressing a willingness to contribute in any capacity.
