In a strongly-worded statement, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth wing, operating under the banner of PDP Youth Frontier, has urged President Bola Tinubu to seek advice from former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan regarding the economic challenges currently facing Nigeria.
According to Sahara Reporters, the National Coordinator of the group, Usman Okai Austin, emphasized the need for leadership capable of addressing the nation’s challenges and steering the country toward economic recovery and security solutions. The statement highlighted the perception that Tinubu’s policies have subjected Nigerians to hardship, echoing the sentiments that economic difficulties, educational setbacks, and rising prices are indicative of the administration’s shortcomings.
Okai said: “We require leaders capable of addressing the nation’s current challenges and steering us towards economic recovery and security solutions. President Tinubu should seek guidance from experienced leaders like Jonathan and Obasanjo to move the country forward.”
The PDP youth wing drew parallels between Tinubu’s approach and that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, criticizing what they perceive as a pattern of blaming predecessors. They called for a departure from this strategy, urging Tinubu to take responsibility for the administration’s failures rather than engaging in blame games.
The statement questioned the significance of Tinubu’s contributions to the development of Lagos, asserting that the former governor’s successes may be overblown. It accused the APC leadership of lacking an understanding of Nigeria’s complexities, particularly in the face of economic and security crises.
“Nigerians are suffering, and it’s evident that the APC is not the better option for the country,” the statement concluded, emphasizing the urgency for a leader capable of navigating the multifaceted challenges currently impacting the nation.
