A lawyer and human rights activist, Professor Chidi Anselm Odinkalu, has reacted after witnessing that former Anambra State Governor Peter Gregory Obi spent a total of N74,500,000 in legal fees on election expenses.
The Labour Party presidential candidate has spent a whopping N744.5 million on legal proceedings after his defeat in the 2023 presidential election, PUNCH reports.
Aisha Yesufu, the Chairperson of the Fundraising Team of the Obi-Dati Presidential Campaign Organisation, disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.
Reacting to the report, Professor Chidi Anselm Odinkalu surprisingly said that the bulk of Peter Obi’s election expenditure was not media or election agents but legal fees.
He wrote on his page;
“Revealing – isn’t it – that the biggest single line item of Peter Obi’s election expenses was not media or election agents but legal expenses, right? This is the result of the chaos that lawyers & judges have made of Nigeria’s electoral system.”
