“Our armed forces launched a powerful salvo of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as a large number of drones, against various targets in Israel. We will continue to conduct more missile and drone attacks until Israeli aggression ceases,” said Brigadier General in his video message on the social network X.
According to a Houthi spokesman, the attack was carried out “out of a sense of religious, moral, humanitarian and national responsibility” for the residents of the Gaza Strip, as well as “in the face of the weakness of the Arab world” and because of “the collusion of some Arab countries with Israel.”
Another Houthi brigadier general, Bin Amer, added that the Yemenis’ decision to enter Hamas’s conflict with Israel “was deliberate and reflects the will of the Yemeni people.”
According to The Times of Israel, the missiles fired at the Israeli city of Eilat were shot down with the help of air defense. IDF aircraft also shot down drones, the publication added.
The Houthi group Ansar Allah has effectively ruled Yemen since 2015, while the UN does not recognize the legitimacy of their power. It is believed that the Houthi regime is supported by Iran and Hezbollah, which also actively supports the Palestinian group in the Hamas war against Israel.
