The Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are scheduled to meet with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, today to address the crisis in Rivers State. The PDP Governors Forum announced this in a statement issued by its Director-General, Cyril Maduabum, on Wednesday. Maduabum stated that the decision to visit Wike was made at the forum’s meeting on Tuesday. The purpose of the visit is for reconciliation and mediation.
“The Chairman of the Forum, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, hereby requests member Governors to converge at his residence, No 1 Miriam Aloma Mukhtar Street, Asokoro, opposite Rivers State Governors Lodge at 10.45 am to accompany him for the visit,” the statement read.
The visit is slated to hold in the FCT Minister’s office, by 11 am.
LAGOS REPORTERS reports that 24 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly had moved to impeach the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday.
This resulted in turbulence in Rivers State as the governor’s loyalists stormed the assembly complex in protest against the plot.
Both Wike and Fubara had met with President Bola Tinubu on the matter on Tuesday.
Governor Mohammed commended President Tinubu for his intervention in the political crisis.
