Solomon Dalung, a former Minister of Youths and Sports, recently spoke on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, alleging that there is a cabal in the government of President Bola Tinubu. Dalung served as a cabinet minister between 2015 and 2019 in the first term of former President Muhammadu Buhari. He claimed that the rejection of Kano State’s ministerial nominee, Dr Maryam Shettima, showed that cabals still exist in Aso Rock.
Dalung also alleged that he was not returned as a minister in Buhari’s government because his tongue was described as “toxic.” According to him, there is a group of ambitious people within the power base of Tinubu’s government who are set to hijack power and protect their interests. This cabal will always exist, he said.
When asked whether he would like to serve under President Bola Tinubu, Dalung replied that he would do so only on the condition that his freedom of speech is not restricted.
Recently, Dalung contested the Langtang North/South Federal Constituency of Plateau House of Representatives seat in the flagship of the Social Democratic Party. However, he lost to Beni Lar of the Peoples Democratic Party, who scored 42,008 votes.
