President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received counsel from civil rights activist and member of the coalition of civil society groups in Nigeria,
Mr. Mohammed Sanusi, advising against succumbing to opposition pressure and internal dissent within the All Progressives Congress (APC) to dismiss the embattled Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Betta Edu.
Sanusi contends that yielding to such pressures would be a monumental error, emphasizing that Edu is a shining star in the administration.
According to the Nigerian Tribune, Sanusi stated on Tuesday that the purported smear campaign against Minister Betta Edu is orchestrated by opposition figures and dissatisfied members within the APC.
He voiced worry that these groups are uneasy with the impressive advancements Edu has experienced during the short period of Tinubu’s administration.
Sanusi claimed that Betta Edu stood out as the highlight of his administration. He pointed out the detrimental impact of negative media coverage on Edu, labeling it as a distraction from the government’s efforts to realize the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The activist emphasized that such campaigns compel the government to constantly defend against accusations of paid blackmail.
