A member of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Olufemi Ajadi, has criticized the call by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, for the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, to join the APC. Ajadi described the call as a sign of desperation by Ganduje, who is trying to remain relevant and in power. He accused the former governor of scheming to dominate the political scene in Kano State and urged all lovers of democracy to condemn the APC’s attempt to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.
Last week, Ganduje had appealed to Governor Abba Yusuf to abandon the NNPP and join the APC, barely a week after the Supreme Court upheld Yusuf’s election as governor of Kano State. Ajadi criticized Ganduje’s remarks, saying that Nigeria is a multi-party democracy, and any attempt to turn the country into a one-party state should be condemned. He accused the APC of trying to use the judiciary to achieve its aim, but the Supreme Court had foiled their plan.
Ajadi called on the National Leader of NNPP, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, and other party leaders to ignore Ganduje and focus on building the party for future elections. He urged APC members to embrace a paradigm shift towards NNPP, highlighting the need for real change and a fresh approach to governance. He emphasized that the country’s fundamental challenges should be addressed, not just political power.
