The dissolution of the All Progressives Congress (APC) executives in Rivers has been met with widespread criticism. Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent party chieftain in the state, opposed the move. In a recent statement, Eze criticized the dissolution, alleging that it was a deliberate attempt to discredit and undermine the former Rivers governor, Chibuike Amaechi.
He claimed that President Bola Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, were behind the orchestration, with the intention of handing over the state chapter to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. Eze warned about the potential repercussions of granting control to Wike, whom he labeled a “political chameleon.” He further criticized recent appointments made by Tinubu’s government, arguing that they appeared to favor Wike.
The move would sideline Amaechi and his loyalists within the party. Eze emphasized the need for Ganduje and the party’s national leadership to consider the implications of their actions, especially given that the dissolution of the state executive committee is currently pending before a court.
