The organised labour consist of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has issued a 14-day nationwide strike notice to the Federal Government.
Daily trust reported that, the strike, according to the Congresses takes effect tomorrow, February 9.
The Federal Government was accused by the unions of not carrying out the deal that was reached in October.
“It is unfortunate that we have to use such drastic measures, but we have no other option due to the severe hardship and ongoing disregard for the welfare of citizens and Nigerian workers.”
“In light of this development, the NLC and TUC hereby issue a harsh ultimatum to the Federal Government, stating that they will fulfil their half of the agreement within 14 days starting tomorrow, February 9,
2024. They also recognise the urgency of the situation and the imperative of ensuring the protection and defence of the rights and dignity of Nigerian workers and citizens.”
