During the dedication of his victory at the governorship election petitions tribunal, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue stated that the court had confirmed the unyielding will of the people, showing that no power could stand in their way.
He also proclaimed that Nigeria’s justice system was fair, just, and transparent, and would not permit political parties or their candidates to gain power through illegitimate means. His chief press secretary, Tersoo Kula, released a statement reflecting the governor’s sentiments.
The tribunal had dismissed a petition by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate Titus Mba, and Governor Alia attributed his triumph to God and the people of Benue.
In a statement, Mr. Alia expressed his belief that the court serves as a beacon of hope for ordinary citizens. He praised the court’s ability to uphold the will of the people and prevent those who seek power through illegitimate means from succeeding.
The governor also affirmed his commitment to improving the welfare of the people, while also calling on the opposition to join him in his efforts to build a state that everyone can take pride in.
