In response to the recent revelation by EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede concerning a religious sect laundering money for terrorists in Nigeria, the Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria (SCSN) challenges the EFCC to disclose the identity of the religious groups involved.
According to Vanguard, The SCSN, represented by President Sheik AbdulRasheed Hadiyahtullah and Secretary Malam Nafi’u Ahmed, emphasizes the need for proper legal action against individuals implicated in financing activities that undermine the nation’s security.
Expressing grave concern over the alleged N7 billion linked to a religious group’s account, the SCSN calls for immediate public clarification, urging the EFCC to publish the list of all sponsors engaged in criminal activities. The group stresses the importance of decisive action against sponsors and those complicit in activities threatening national security.
In addressing the insecurity situation in Plateau State, the SCSN demands a comprehensive and impartial approach. Criticizing the exclusion of Muslim representation in the security committee, the council highlights the potential hindrance to the committee’s effectiveness in addressing the root causes of ongoing conflicts.
The SCSN urgently calls for a reevaluation of the committee’s composition to ensure true representation of the state’s diverse population.
The council asserts that the current imbalance not only disregards justice principles but also impedes the development of a united front against the challenges faced by the state. As a right and in the interest of equity, the SCSN calls on the Governor to heed the call for justice and equitable representation, emphasizing that the current imbalance sends a disturbing message to the world and could exacerbate the crisis.
