According to reports, the Federal Government of Nigeria has started putting together a list of new ambassadors who will represent the country in various nations. This move follows President Bola Tinubu’s call for all Nigerian ambassadors, including both career and non-career diplomats, to return to the country by October 31.
Nigeria currently has over 300 foreign missions, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, communicated the recall to the affected envoys. While some ambassadors have already returned, the Presidency is now compiling a list of new ambassadors to replace them.
A senior official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the names of new ambassadors are being compiled, but it is not yet known how many new ambassadors will be posted or when they will be posted.
