Peter Olumuji, Secretary of the FCTA Command and Control Center, has spoken on FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s initiative to combat insecurity by demolishing shanties in Abuja
In an interview with Channels TV, Olumuji clarified that these shanties serve as hiding places for criminal elements and that was why Wike made it clear to plot owners that if they do not promptly develop their land after the removal of these shanties, their ownership will be revoked.
He said this strict measure aims to prevent the re-emergence of criminal hideouts and encourages swift development of cleared areas.Peter Olumuji
In Olumuji’s words:
“Wike said if you don’t take over your land after removal of (shanty), it will be revoked.
Then it shows that you don’t need it so it will be revoked and given to somebody that can take immediate use of that place because when we remove (shanties) and you refuse to take over, naturally these nuisances will come back there”.
