Father Ejike Mbaka, the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Nigeria (AMEN), has issued a warning about the escalating insecurity and impending hunger crisis in Nigeria.
He directed his concerns towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to address the pressing issues facing the nation.
According to Sahara Reporters, Father Mbaka emphasised the gravity of the situation, highlighting the imminent wave of hunger that could devastate the country.
Despite acknowledging Tinubu’s political journey to the presidency, Mbaka criticised the lack of tangible efforts to solve Nigeria’s multifaceted problems. He urged the president to exhibit stronger political will in tackling the insecurity and hardships plaguing the nation.
The cleric pointed out a troubling scenario where people are encouraged to go to the farms and produce, only to face the looming threat of armed herdsmen wielding AK-47s. This dire situation paints a grim picture of the challenges faced by farmers attempting to contribute to food production amid pervasive insecurity.
Mbaka’s warning extended beyond the farming community, cautioning that even politicians, who may feel secure in their comfort zones, are not immune to the escalating levels of insecurity. He stressed that the repercussions of the current situation could reach the doorsteps of those who think they are insulated from the pervasive threats.
Furthermore, Father Mbaka drew attention to President Tinubu’s alleged inaction against endemic corruption in the oil sector. Despite the challenges posed by influential cabals, the cleric called on Tinubu to take a decisive stand against corruption for the greater good of the nation.
Part of Mbaka’s speech reads, “We are asking people to go to the farm and produce; but if you enter the farm, herdsmen with AK-47s will enter the farm and kill the farmers. Who will go to the farm anymore?”
