The arrest of a 48-year-old woman has sent shockwaves through the community as she stands accused of committing a deeply distressing act against her own 18-year-old son. The incident has left many bewildered and grappling with disbelief, as the thought of a mother harming her own child is both heart-wrenching and difficult to comprehend.

Upon their arrival at the scene adjacent to a local tavern, the law enforcement officers were met with a sight so profoundly distressing that it sent shockwaves through their ranks. Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the police spokesman in Limpopo, described the scene as nothing short of harrowing (the lifeless body of an 18-year-old man lying on a wheelchair with his head on the ground). The gravity of the situation was immediately apparent to all who bore witness to it.
To their astonishment, there was not a soul to be found at the scene, adding an eerie layer to the already disturbing circumstances. Despite the gravity of the reported incident, the absence of any individuals at the scene left the officers perplexed and concerned, deepening the mystery surrounding the tragic event.
“Police commenced with initial investigations, and the deceased’s mother was located. After thorough investigation, the mother was positively linked to the murder of her son and arrested,” Mashaba said.
Mashaba said they have also seized a knife at the scene allegedly used by the suspect to cut off the victim’s head. He said the suspect is expected to appear in court soon.

Ramoaka underscored the importance of safeguarding the rights and dignity of all individuals, regardless of their physical or mental capabilities. He called for swift and decisive action to ensure that justice is served for the victim and that measures are implemented to prevent similar atrocities from occurring in the future. The organization pledged its unwavering support to the victim and their family, offering assistance and advocacy to navigate the legal process and access necessary support services. Through their condemnation of this abhorrent crime, Beyond Disability reaffirmed its commitment to promoting inclusivity, equality, and respect for all members of society, particularly those most vulnerable to exploitation and abuse.
“This incident shocked us. It’s for the first time we hear reports of a heinous crime of this nature levelled against a vulnerable person,” he said.
