The Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, has disclosed the reason behind the suspension of the Onido of Ido, Oba Gbolagade Muritala Babalola.
Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier announced the suspension of the monarch, citing the traditional ruler’s alleged connections with illegal miners in the state, DAILY POST reports.
Dotun Oyelade, in a statement on Friday, emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to taking stringent actions against anyone, regardless of their status, involved in unlawful activities in the state.
The suspension serves as a stern warning to those supporting criminal elements within the state, signaling that such actions will not be tolerated.
Dotun Oyelade stated,
“In the light of our recent experience and government daily efforts to rid our land of criminals, we are sending the signal to all like-minded elements to vacate our zone or be caught and brought to justice.”
