Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, has insisted that Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did not win the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.
Soyinka on Saturday noted that Obi “jointly with his erstwhile colleague of the PDP donated the outcome (of the presidential election) even before the voting.”
SaharaReporters had during the week reported how Soyinka stated categorically that Peter Obi, who came third at the presidential polls, did not win the 2023 presidential election.
Soyinka had stated this while speaking as a guest speaker at the 2023 ‘Africa in the World’ event, a festival that brings together the world’s most innovative thinkers and top leaders to platform invigorating ideas for fresh changes and sustainable solutions for African people.
Obasanjo denies meeting President Tinubu at Alake’s birthday.

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has denied the claim that he met with President Bola Tinubu at the 80th birthday reception of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo on Thursday.
A video clip on a TikTok social media platform with “@asiwajuwoldwidef” as profile name of the account was posted to falsely claimed that Tinubu and Obasanjo met on Thursday.
In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo condemned the fake post, which also lifted a banter conversation that took place between the two, when he played host to the former Lagos State governor last year before the country’s general elections this year.
Akinyemi stated that the former President, who is now in South Africa for the burial of his friend and brother, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi holding today, said the architect of the fake disjointed and sicken post should rather look elsewhere for the work he/she is looking for and not through him.

Stop Dragging Tinubu, Wike, Into Nasarawa Politics, PDP Tells Gov Sule.

The Nasarawa State Chapter of the People Democratic Party (PDP) at weekend dared Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, to allow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and former River State Governor, now FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to face governance instead of dragging them into politics of Nasarawa State.
The opposition People Democratic Party disclosed this in a statement signed by Hon. Francis Orogu and made available to DAILY INDEPENDENT in Lafia, the state capital.
The Nasarawa PDP urged Governor Sule to face the challenges of developing the state like his counterparts in other states instead moving round seeking favour for his tribunal case.
The party also urged the governor to leave president Ahmed Bola Tinibu, and the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, out of the politics of the state and face his political travails.
Coup: France won’t cut ties with Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso – Minister.

France does not intend to cut cultural ties with Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, the culture minister, Rima Abdul-Malak said.
Abdul-Malak said this after entertainment businesses slammed a decision this week to ban all partnerships with artists from these African countries.
“France has always been an open and welcoming nation for artists, so this is not a shift in policy.“It’s an adaptation to an extremely deteriorated security context,” she told RTL radio.
Niger’s government was overthrown in a military coup in July, while Burkina Faso has been overrun by hardline militants for years.
Mali’s military has also been fighting a rebel alliance since August, which has led France to ban visas and halt development aid for all three countries.
Abdul-Malak’s remarks appeared intended to defuse a confrontation with the union of artistic and cultural businesses SYNDEAC, which had demanded to meet with her after her ministry issued a directive to halt all cooperation and financial support to institutions from the three countries.
