Nigerian Tobi Amusan has qualified for the final of the 100m hurdles event at the current World Championship in Budapest, Hungary.
Amusan, running in lane seven, won the second semi-final with a time of 12:56 seconds despite getting off to a slow start.
Ackera Nugent enjoyed an early lead before Amusan took victory at the finish line.
The reigning NCAA champion, clocking 12.60 seconds, eventually settled for second, which was also enough for him to automatically qualify for the final.
Amusan, the world record holder in the event, is looking to defend the title she won last year in Oregon.
Although the preparation for the World Championships has been challenging for Amusan, she remains determined to prove that her performance last year was not a fluke.
Racing in the 5 Series on Wednesday, Amusan also won her race and now seems fired up for the final race on Thursday.
Unsurprisingly, the usual suspects who will compete with Amusan in the final also made it through on Wednesday.
Former world record holder Kendra Harrison won the first semifinal race in 12.33 while Jasmine Camacho-Quinn took Heat 3 in 12.41, ahead of Nia Ali in 12.49.
Many are hoping that Amusan is saving the best for last, as it seems all of her rivals have posted faster times in Budapest than she has in her two races so far.
Amusan, in her characteristic way, says she’s not under any pressure and is ready to take each race as it comes.
