President Bola Tinubu on Saturday, he said his administration would take appropriate steps to improve the operational capabilities of security and law enforcement agencies.
Mr. Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, provided security at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, Fifth Regular Course Blackout Parade.
The Information Director of the Office of the Vice President, Olusola Abiola, made it known in a statement this Saturday.
The Nigerian leader also secured his administration’s commitment to improving staff well-being in his renewed push to address security and related concerns across the country.
“This administration is committed to implementing effective measures to combat the security challenges in Nigeria and our synergy is the surest ticket to that destination. We are implementing a comprehensive approach that focuses on key areas.
“First, we are investing in our law enforcement agencies to improve their capabilities and effectiveness. We are offering additional resources, training and equipment to strengthen our Police Force and Security Agencies.
“Simultaneously, we are improving our intelligence systems and information sharing both nationally and internationally.”
Tinubu said the government recognizes that addressing security challenges requires cooperative efforts with other countries.
“Therefore, we are building partnerships to skillfully address transnational threats. In addition, we are executing comprehensive social programs and economic development projects aimed at fostering inclusion, social unity, and economic prospects for all,” the president added.
While praising the leaders of the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies for their efforts, the president said: “Our moral duty now is to support the Nigerian Police Force and other security organizations in stepping up their attempts to improve public safety.
“We must do the best within our ability to ensure that there is an improvement in the security of the lives, property and investments of our people and foreign investors.”
Mr. Tinubu urged members of the Force to always hold fast to the fundamental virtues of our Police Force; integrity, honesty and compassion.
“We must treat all citizens fairly and defend their human rights, regardless of their origin. Our actions must exemplify the highest ethical standards while safeguarding the rule of law. Together, we embody the principles that define a trustworthy and accountable police force.”
He expressed his confidence in the ability of the graduates to fit into the agenda of the present administration.
He noted that “with the quality of training he has received during his five years at the Academy, I believe he is adequately prepared to serve this country.
“May you all embark on this journey with courage and determination, knowing that the nation needs your patriotic services. Stay alert, stay united and stay focused on the ideals that make our Police an example of honor and integrity.”
Earlier, Academy Commander Sadiq Abubakar, Deputy Inspector General of Police, thanked the federal government for its unwavering support of the institution.
He noted that the successful graduation of the 169 cadets was a testament to the current administration’s commitment to developing infrastructure and manpower in the Force.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of a sword and awards to the best graduating cadets, the symbolic flute and the commissioning of the cadets by the president, who was the Special Guest of Honor.
Dignitaries present at the event include Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State; the vice president of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, some members of the National Assembly; Police Service Commission Chairman Solomon Arase; the acting Police Inspector General, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, among others.
