Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood showered praise on Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard for his performance against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League last night.
The Gunners skipper bagged the fourth goal against the Eredivisie club having assisted their opener, and he took control of proceedings in the middle of the park.
Odegaard was the official man of the match and has been nominated for the Player of the Week award, and Arsenal fans also voted him as their man of the match for his brilliant display.
The Norwegian had 91% pass accuracy, made 82 touches, completed 64 of the 70 passes he attempted, won five of seven ground duels, completed five of the six long balls he attempted and completed all the three dribbles he attempted.
Odegaard has now bagged three goals across all competitions this term, and his strike last night reminded Sherwood of Harry Kane.
“Arsenal have scored the fourth,” the former Spurs boss said on Sky Sports.
“Odegaard, the best player on the pitch by a million miles. He just picks up the ball from Smith Rowe. Great little pass from Smith Rowe.
“Does good foot work, uses his strength, just rolls in the ball and a lot of space and he just takes it out with his feet.
“Another touch and smashes it past the goalkeeper. It was Kane-esque.”
