Bayern Munich attacker Thomas Muller is looking forward to facing Arsenal in the quarter-final of the Champions League, and he is feeling pretty confident ahead of the fixtures.
The German champions are struggling domestically this term but Muller is certain that they have what it takes to dump the Gunners out of the Europe elite competition.
Arsenal and Bayern have met 12 times, with the Germans winning seven and losing three, and while Muller admits the North Londoners are no longer the team they used to easily beat, he remains confident.
“This is no longer the Arsenal that Bayern have always dealt with confidently in the past,” he told Sky Sports Germany.
“It will be a lot of work, but I am convinced that we will beat the Gunners.”
Bayern won 5-1 at home and away the last time they faced Arsenal in 2016-17 in the Champions League round of 16, and they also won by the same scoreline at Allianz Arena during a group game after the Gunners won 2-0 at Emirates Stadium.
However, that Arsenal team were not challenging for the title and plenty has changed since then.
While the Gunners have been flying in the Premier League, Bayern have been poor, losing the German Super Cup to RB Leipzig back in August and getting dumped out of the German Cup by third-tier Saarbruecken last November.
They have also suffered league losses to Eintracht Frankfurt, Werder Bremen, Bayer Leverkusen, Bochum and Borussia Dortmund and are clearly beatable.
