Oluchi Oparah, the troubled National Treasurer of the Labour Party, has stressed that the concerns she raised about the misappropriation of ₦3.5 billion within the party do not involve their former presidential candidate, Peter Obi. She alleged that the party’s national chairman, Abure, mishandled the funds, and he has since denied the accusation.
During an AIT interview, Oparah urged Abure to resign and emphasized the importance of a comprehensive inquiry into the purported mismanagement of the 3.5 billion naira. She made it clear that her focus is on Abure’s conduct, not suggesting any misconduct by Peter Obi, whom she praised as a remarkable and admirable leader.
In Oparah’s words: “Labour Party is nothing without Peter Obi, this cry is not about Obi but about Abure. He should step aside and let there be an investigation into all the allegations I have raised. It is not about Peter Obi, he is a wonderful person and he has shown example in Anambra State. He is about the only governor that left without being arrested or harassed and I want Obidients to believe me and trust me in this”.
