The Senate has announced that it will go on a recess starting from Friday, December 1st. The announcement was made by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday. This was shortly after President Bola Tinubu presented the 2024 budget to the National Assembly in a joint session.
Senator Akpabio also mentioned that the Senate will reconvene on December 12th, 2023. Once they resume, lawmakers will listen to the defence of the 2024 budget by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government.
To ensure maximum attention to the budget defence, Senate President Akpabio has requested that President Tinubu mandate all ministers and heads of agencies to avoid travelling engagements that would prevent them from honouring the Senate’s invitation to defend their budget estimates before relevant committees.
The Senate President reiterated the National Assembly’s readiness to support the administration, adding that “our legislative agenda reflects our dedication to the Nigerian people, and we look forward to achieving remarkable milestones for our great nation under your purposeful leadership.”
