The National Publicity Secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr Alfa Mohammed, has denied allegations that the party is involved in forming a coalition against President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He referred to the suggestion as “unpatriotic and undemocratic.”
According to Mr. Mohammed, there is a “substantial conspiracy” targeting the president, which allegedly involves influential opposition figures and private entities. The aim of the conspiracy is to establish a formidable coalition to turn public opinion against the government and potentially lead to its removal.
However, the mainstream SDP is not part of the alleged conspiracy. At present, the party is focused on its internal legal struggles against an illegitimate faction recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Mr. Mohammed stated that the mainstream SDP is committed to engaging with Tinubu’s administration in a constructive manner for the next three years. He emphasized that the party would not take part in schemes aimed at destabilizing the government or distracting its focus.
