In keeping with its mandate to empower Nigerian women with empowering skills, the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, Oluremi Tinubuhas graduated the first group of beneficiaries of its ICT Training and Empowerment Program for Women.
The training was attended by no less than 35 women from all over the FCT.
In her speech, Ms. Tinubu congratulated the participants and applauded the CEO and his team of facilitators for the success of the training.
He highlighted the importance of digital literacy and its role in fostering economic independence, noting that these skills are indispensable tools for driving growth and innovation.”

“As we celebrate the successful conclusion of this program, I extend my congratulations to all of the participants. He has shown resilience, determination and a hunger for knowledge that will undoubtedly set him on the path to success.”
NITDA Director General Kashifu Abdullahi thanked the first lady for the opportunity to work with the RHI.
“Thank you for protecting all vulnerable Nigerians. We are lucky to have you as the first lady and mother of our nation.
“The participants, their daughters, are graduating today and taking home five important things. Everyone is equipped with digital literacy and ICT proficiency, they will return home trained to use digital platforms safely and responsibly, and they are also proficient in digital marketing on how to use social media to sell their products and services.
“You are also enlightened on how to be part of the sharing economy, you learned skills on how to work remotely and earn money; They also learned how to use productivity tools, and lastly, they were trained on networking. They will return home with a laptop and 100,000.00 naira.
“The First Lady has agreed with us to work and collaborate with the Renewed Hope Initiative to develop a national gender digital inclusion strategy to put them on a par with men in benefiting from the digital economy.”
The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has also pledged to work with the Initiative to ensure that the training is extended to millions of women across the country.
He said the program was in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Agenda for Renewed Hope for the inclusion and empowerment of women, among others.
“I want to extend my thanks to the visionary of this initiative, our First Lady. Her unwavering commitment to empowerment and advancement has charted the course of change for all members of this cohort. This is a program that we look forward to partnering with you to scale significantly.

“I must also acknowledge the CEO of NITDA and his team for their role in making this program a reality.
“The empowerment of women is essential for the development and growth of any society. In reality, there is no individual who has not been raised by a woman. By empowering women, we unlock the unique creativity and innovation that can enrich every aspect of our lives.
“It is well documented that when we provide equal access to educational resources and opportunities, this becomes the architect of positive change, changing the trajectory of economic progress, social harmony and sustainable development.”
“This program represents a critical step in this direction. It was also aligned with two priority areas of President Bola Tinubu’s Agenda for Renewed Hope. The first is investing in the digital economy to equip Nigerians with new skills and also keep jobs. Secondly, promote the empowerment of women to defend equity and parity in all facets of our lives”.
On behalf of the other participants, Nkiru Ogbuli, a graphic designer, thanked the First Lady for keeping her promise to empower women, explaining that the program has expanded her knowledge and provided her with opportunities she would not have imagined existed.
Another recipient, Promise Ogbuehia, a makeup artist, says the training is beneficial not only for her but also for the people she would later teach to impact them with the knowledge she has gained.
Ms Tinubu, along with the minister, presented certificates, new laptops and an intervention grant of 100,000 naira to each of the graduates.
