Motorists are advised to take note of a traffic diversion along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway due to the collapse of a flyover. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) released this advisory, as shared by their spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, in a statement released on Tuesday from Abuja.
The collapsed bridge is located at the new craft market on the Port Harcourt-Enugu expressway in Enugu State. It was reported to have collapsed on September 25 at 12:30 pm, causing a disruption in vehicular movement on that route.
If you are traveling from Port Harcourt, Aba to Abakaliki, kindly stop by Bricks at the new Kenyatta Market (Army Check Point)-Okpara Square as an alternative route.
“This will take them to New Haven Junction via Otigba Roundabout, through Ogui-Abakpa Roundabout Junction (Division 82) and continue to Abakaliki.
“On the other hand, motorists from Abuja/Abakaliki going to Aba/Port Harcourt are advised to take Abakpa Junction (Division 82) – New Haven Junction via Otigba roundabout.
“This would be via Ogui Roundabout to Okpara Square and continue to Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway, Kenyatta New Market (Army Check Point) and continue to Aba/Port Harcourt,” he said.
Kazeem said the advisory became necessary to ensure that motorists were not stuck in an avoidable traffic jam.
It quoted FRSC Corps Marshal Dauda Biu warning drivers of all categories of vehicles using that route to adhere to alternative roads and maintain all traffic rules and regulations for safe arrival.
